What are you reading: Final Week!

Hello readers--

It's been great to see the continuous comments and activity on here over the last few weeks, and now we're drawing to a close. Use this post to comment and tell us about the last book you read for the challenge. I'll post a summary of everyone's comments on Friday to make sure we've tallied everything up correctly. So as the mercury rises this week, I hope you all find a cozy, *air-conditioned* spot to read a good book (fyi, the library is practically arctic, and we have a few comfy chairs in the back!).

What are you reading: Week 3 and 4

My, the summer goes fast. Thanks for all your comments so far. What are you working on for the last weeks of the reading challenge?
Remember, the final day to turn in your reading logs (or tell us about 5 books on this blog) is August 22 (6:00pm at the latest!). Good luck and happy reading!

Saw this the other day:

Not your typical source for good books to read, but here are some summer reading pics from Gwyneth Paltrow and friends:

Week One: What are you reading?

Hi there!

Welcome to week one of the adult Summer Reading Challenge. Use this post to tell us what you're reading this week. You can make as many comments as you like, but make sure that you tell us that you've *finished* one book before this Saturday the 18th at 5pm. That's when I'll pick the weekly prize winner.

So if you'd like to tell us about a book, or just want to test things out, click on the "Comments" link below this post. If you aren't logged in as a Blogger or OpenID user, just pick "Anonymous" and put your name in the comment itself.

Comments won't show up right away--they'll get approved first.

Happy reading!

Let's get started

Welcome to the Adult Summer Reading Challenge at Newport Public Library!

We're giving summer reading an online dimension this year, which hopefully will allow all you readers to more conveniently let us know what books you've read AND perhaps encourage some discussion and interaction once things get going.

First things first, though. Here's how to register for the Reading Challenge online:

1. Scroll down to the end of this post, and click the link that says "0 Comments."

2. In the compose window that appears under "Post a Comment," type in your name (first and last), your user name (if you have an online or blog identity you will be using--this is optional) library card number, and email address. No one but NPL librarians will see these comments, so your info will be secure.

3. I'll email you a confirmation from the email address nplreading@gmail.com. If you have any questions, if something doesn't work, or if you just want to register over email, please use this address.

Once you're registered, check the blog at least once a week to see what's going on. Every Monday, I'll publish a post asking what you've read. Simply post a comment to this post and let us all know. These comments will be published on the blog, so you can all respond to each other if you like. Just be sure to include your name or user name when posting. That's plenty of information for now, let's start reading!
